Shepherd Mutsvara
Shepherd Mutsvara is a PhD Candidate in the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration. He began his career as a professionally trained secondary school teacher in Zimbabwe. He then studied for a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) with the University of South Africa and also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M – Public International Law) from the University of London. Shepherd is a versatile professional with teaching experience in both secondary and tertiary education. He is also a Research Affiliate with the Refugee Law Initiative and is a member in good standing with the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law (Africa Research Group). His research project: Economic refugees: an analysis of persecution and displacement in the new global era is being co-supervised by Professor Joanna Bar (UP) and Professor Ellen Desmet of Ghent University.
On 15 September 2023, he submitted a doctoral thesis entitled “Economic refugees: an analysis of persecution and cross-border displacement in the new global era”.
On 20.03.2024r. the public defence of the doctoral thesis took place.
