Privacy Policy (Privacy Policy)
- Introduction. This Privacy Policy describes the principles of the collection, processing, and protection of personal data within the research project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, conducted in the Doctoral School of the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków (UKEN). The project aims to collect research data that will be processed locally (and will not be published online). A broader description is provided in the section Research Topic.
- Data Controller. The controller of personal data is the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków, with its registered office at ul. Podchorążych 2/31C 30-084 Kraków Poland, website: https://www.uken.krakow.pl/
. In case of questions regarding data processing, please contact: wladyslaw.kolasa@uken.krakow.pl - Scope of Collected Data. Within the project, only publicly available user-generated content from social media platforms will be collected, including content originating from institutional profiles. These data may include: the content of public posts and comments; publicly available profile information (e.g. username, profile picture); the date and time of publication.
- Purpose of Data Processing. The collected data will be used exclusively for research purposes related to the project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. These data will be used for media and communication analysis of statements from selected social media, published in three languages (English, Arabic, and Hebrew).
- Legal Basis for Data Processing. The processing of personal data is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR (legitimate interest of the controller), i.e. for the purpose of conducting scientific research.
- Local Data Processing. All data collected within the project will be processed locally, on secured servers of the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków (UKEN). These data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) nor made publicly available on the Internet.
- Data Security. The controller applies appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security of processed personal data, including: data encryption; access control; regular backups; pseudonymization of data (where necessary).
- Data Retention Period. Personal data will be stored for the period necessary to achieve the research objectives, and will then be deleted or anonymized.
- Rights of Data Subjects. Individuals whose data are processed within the project have the right to: 1. access their data; 2. rectify their data; 3. request deletion of data (in cases provided by law); 4. restrict processing; 5. object to processing; 6. lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (the President of the Personal Data Protection Office).
- Compliance with Social Media Platform Policies. The research project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is conducted in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the following platforms: Facebook, TikTok, X, YouTube & Telegram, including their Data Policies and Developer Terms.
- Changes to the Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy may be subject to change. The current version of the Policy will always be available on the project website – https://szkola-doktorska.uken.krakow.pl/en/social-media-research-privacy-policy.html
Terms of Service (Terms of Service)
- Introduction. These Terms of Service (hereinafter “Terms”) regulate the rules for using data collected within the research project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, conducted in the Doctoral School of the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków (UKEN). By using the project data, you accept these Terms.
- Project Purpose. The project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence aims to collect research data that will be processed locally (and will not be published online). A broader description is provided in the section Research Topic.
- Data Sources. The data used in the project come from publicly available user-generated content on the following platforms: TikTok; X (formerly Twitter); YouTube; Telegram.
- Scope of Data. The collected data include only publicly available content such as: the content of posts, comments, videos, and messages; publicly available profile information (e.g. username, profile picture); the date and time of publication.
- Restrictions on Data Use. Data collected within the project may be used exclusively for research purposes. Commercial use of the data is prohibited. Public sharing of data in a form that allows identification of individual users is prohibited. The use of data in a manner that violates copyright or other intellectual property rights is prohibited. The use of data in a manner that violates the policies of the platforms from which the data originate is prohibited.
- Compliance with Platform Policies. The project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is conducted in compliance with the policies and guidelines of the following platforms: Facebook: Data Policy, Developer Terms; TikTok: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy; X: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy; YouTube: Terms of Service, Google Privacy Policy; Telegram: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy.
- Personal Data Protection. All data are processed locally on secured servers of the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. Data are not transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The controller applies appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure data security. Data will be stored for the period necessary to achieve research objectives, and will then be deleted or anonymized.
- Liability. The University of the National Education Commission in Kraków is not responsible for the content of user-generated statements on the platforms. Users of the data bear full responsibility for the manner of their use. Users of the data agree to comply with the terms of use of each of the above-mentioned platforms.
- Changes to the Terms. The University of the National Education Commission in Kraków reserves the right to change these Terms. The current version of the Terms will always be available on the project website https://szkola-doktorska.uken.krakow.pl/en/social-media-research-privacy-policy.html

Data Deletion Instructions (Data Deletion Instructions)
- Introduction. This instruction describes the procedure for deleting personal data collected within the research project Media and Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, conducted by the Doctoral School of the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków (UKEN).
- Right to Data Deletion. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), individuals whose data are processed within the project have the right to request the deletion of their data.
- Data Deletion Procedure. To delete your data from the project, you should send an email to: wladyslaw.kolasa@uken.krakow.pl
- . The message should include: name and surname (or pseudonym) used in statements on the platforms; links to the statements to be removed (if possible); the name of the platform on which the statement was published (TikTok, X, YouTube, Telegram).
- Identity Verification. For the purpose of identity verification, the controller may request additional information.
- Data Deletion from the Project. After successful identity verification, the data will be permanently deleted from the project database within [60 days].
- Data Anonymization. In cases where deletion of data is impossible or unjustified, the controller may anonymize the data, preventing identification of individual persons.
